Swiss Chard Poriyal

1 Tbsp Oil
1 Tsp Urad Dal
1/4 Tsp Mustard Seeds
1/4 Tsp Cumin Seeds
1 Red Chilie


Heat oil in a pan, add urad dal, saute until the color of the dal changes. Add mustard seeds, when it starts to splutter, add cumin seeds, red chilie, saute for few seconds.

1/2 Cup Onion, Chopped
1 Green Chilies
3/4 Tsp Salt


Add onion and green chilies and fry till the color of the onion changes. Add salt and mix well.


1 Bunch Chard, Chopped, stem and leaves chopped and kept separately

1/4 Cup Water

Add chard stems and saute for 1 minutes, add water and close the pan and cook in medium heat for 5 minutes, add chard leaves and saute for 5 more minutes. Switch off the stove.

1/4 cup Coconut Powder

Add coconut powder, mix well.


Yields:  2 Cups
