Kollu Paruppu (Horsegram)


2 Cup Horse Gram (Kollu Paruppu)

Clean horse gram, take out STONES and sticks and wash it.

6 Cups Water
1/2 Tsp Turmeric Powder
1/2 Tsp Salt

Cook horse gram with water, turmeric powder and salt for 10 whistles.


1 Tbsp Coconut Oil
1 Tsp Cumin Seeds
2 Tsp Coriander seeds


3 Green Chili
2 Red Chili


1/2 Cup Pearl Onion, Chopped (5 Pearl Onions - Keep 1 raw for grinding)
1 Sprig Curry Leaves

2 Cup Water
1 and 3/4 Tsp Salt

Heat oil in a pan, add cumin seeds and coriander seeds and fry for few minutes.

Add green & red chilies and fry for few seconds.

Add onion, curry leaves and fry till color of the onion changes.

Add water, cooked horsegram, salt and let it boil, after it started to boil, reduce the heat to medium and cook for 10 minutes in medium flame.

1 Peal Onion, Chopped

Add one chopped pearl onion and grind it using hand blender.

Cilantro, Chopped, to Garnish

Add chopped cilantro and mix well.
